Birds of Southern Latin America
Registered by Michael Rinke

178 species that inhabit the southern region
of Latin America (Chile, Argentina and Uruguay)

Recently included: 112 bird species from rest of the World

Although a small sample of the species that inhabit the southern part of the Latin American continent, this is the beginning of an ambitious project of which the main theme are the birds.
Based on an important quantity of digital video recordings and photographs, we are developing a series of graphic products to promote the knowledge of these creatures that live with us.
Some of this products have been completed or are at their final stage of production, and are being presented in this site: the Field Manual, the Road Map, the memory game MemorAlas, the poster Alas Americanas and the video of San Martín de los Andes.
The work has started more than 5 years ago, and according to our production schedule, we estimate still having another 5 years ahead of hard labor to accomplish the different stages of production.
The Sout american species registries where taken in the following Argentine provinces: Río Negro, Neuquén, Chubut, Mendoza, San Luis, La Pampa, Córdoba, Buenos Aires, Santa Fe and Entre Ríos.
The registries in Uruguay where taken in the departments: Mercedes, Soriano, Maldonado and Montevideo.
In Chile in the IX y X Region.
The registries in captivity and some European birds where taken en lakes or Zoos from Germany and Austria.
We invite you to follow up the development of this site which will be updated periodically as the different segments of the project move forward.
